Advising Support

We know that beginning college level work is a challenge, but many resources are available to make this year a success! Near the top of this list is your student's advising community: the place to call, e-mail, or stop by when students have a question, find some information confusing, are having difficulties in a class or in other areas, or want to share a triumphant moment.

CLA advising services are divided into seven student communities based on majors and student interests. Your student is assigned to the community that advises the major indicated by his or her primary interest. In addition to the student communities, the Martin Luther King Jr. Program and Honors - CLA provide advising services and other resources to many CLA students.

All student community staff members are carefully trained to help students use their community's staff and resources effectively. We're here to help!

Services Available Through Your Student's Community
As a CLA student, your student is a member of a student community that has been designed to provide the information and support needed to succeed at the University and make the most of a CLA education.

Members of Your Student's Advising Team
Your student will work with a team of advising staff associated with his or her student community. They will help your student use the resources available at the University, choose their major, plan their program to graduate on time, and prepare for the work world or further education after graduation. Students should contact their CLA student community to get connected to the help that they need.
